Our human resources team loved this TED talk by Shawn Achor so much that we decided to share it with all of you today!
Shawn believes that people, schools, and businesses need to reverse the formula for happiness and success. According to Shawn, most people buy into the notion that if they work harder, they’ll become more successful—and as they achieve more success, the happier they’ll become.
Shawn, on the other hand, thinks that type of thinking is scientifically backwards. He basically believes that the happier a person is, the harder they will work. During his talk, Shawn demonstrates that by reversing this formula, people can find a way of becoming positive in the present. And when that positivity is discovered, the human brain works more successfully thereby motivating people to work harder, faster, and more intelligently. Pretty cool, right?
We love this, because we follow a similar philosophy when it comes to work! We’re into raising brands and people and families (read our company Mission & Values)! We believe that by raising our employee’s level of positivity we will increase our company’s intelligence, creativity, and overall energy.
In a nutshell, every single one of our business outcomes improve when happieness drives our employees.
So please, we encourage you to check out the video, it’s a lot of fun—and who knows, it might change the way you look at happiness and success!
